An evening with ABC Carpet and Home. Be Still My Heart.

ABC Kitchen, one of my favorite places in the world, has their own CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) called abcsa

A CSA is a group of people who have come together to support a collection of local farmers and farms in the form of shares, with the growers and consumers sharing the risks and benefits of food production.

Last night I was at abcmkt for the launch of the CSA's second year. I sampled some food from the Hudson Valley farmers who will be represented in the CSA, which included insanely delicious cheese, farm fresh fruits and vegetables, and Organic meat. Jealous yet? Well... guess what? You can join!
If you don't understand how amazing this CSA is, i'll help you:

You, person living in New York City, have the opportunity to purchase a membership share to receive food specially curated for you by ABC's team of experts which will contain the freshest, most local, and sustainable food around, straight from the Hudson Valley.

If you aren't convinced yet, let me mention that membership comes with a special ABC reservation line and the packages will include tips and recipes by ABC Kitchen’s Jean-Georges Vongerichten AKA my culinary hero and absolute favorite chef. He is, to be perfectly frank, a total badass and a trailblazer leading the sustainable food movement.

Now we're talking!

The CSA will run from June to October and  will include 10 bi-monthly deliveries of fresh produce, cheese, and if desired meat. The pickup will be in abcmkt which is the lower level of ABC Carpet and Home.

The program is in partnership with the FarmOn! Foundation which is a networking community for young farmers to inspire them to action by equipping them with the tools, knowledge and hands on skills needed to increase the profitability of their agricultural business and to support a local food system.

The two share options include:

Farm Lover (vegetarian share): $1,300
Ten deliveries (bi-monthly) Hudson valley organic bio-dynamic greens, organic vegetables, local Hudson Valley fruit, artisan Hudson Valley creameries/cheese, local free-range, hormone-free eggs, local specialty food products, recipes and ABC Kitchen reservation access.

Farmer’s Choice (organic grass-fed, free-range meat plus vegetarian share): $2,000
Ten deliveries (bi-monthly) of organic grass-fed mix of beef, chicken and pork plus entirety of vegetarian share (listed above, including recipes, and ABC Kitchen reservation access).

  1. I had no idea that ABC was so forward-thinking. I am constantly impressed and surprised by the innovation they crank out. Will have to start saving up to become a member of their CSA!

  4. Hello,

Please watch "Cowspiracy" and reconsider eating meat. I know you care about the environment, please help spread the word that the meat and dairy industry is unsustainable (organic or not).
Keep up with the great work.
    Thank you
